classwork assignments
This page will always have this week's lesson on top and all of our past lessons below it. I will post everything we do week-to-week so you can keep track of the things you might have been absent for- or maybe you just need to finish an assignment for homework and would like to remember the directions! It is your responsibility as my student to use this page at home, on your iPad, iPod, or your phone to keep up with your missed assignments. Every student only has 48 hours to make up any missed work.

October 6-7th UNIT TEST
If you missed this test the last day to make it up for a grade is 10/15 (Wednesday) NO EXCUSES!!!
Students completed a 40 question unit test on the topics covered in the first 7 weeks. After the test is complete, students were to review their journals and complete a "ONE PAGER". One pagers are one single sheet of blank paper filled to the edges with all of the information from the previous units. It must be colorful, have pictures, captions, and include all of the main topics from the first 7 weeks.
Thursday October 9th is LTM!
October 8-10th: Journal Page "Plate Tectonics Review"
We watched a video Bill Nye's Plate Tectonics and Summary Video to help us answer the following questions in your journal:

Week 7: Sept 29 - Oct 3
September 29th: Seafloor Model Construction
Table groups were assigned specific seafloor features to build a model of using cardboard and shoe boxes. These will be used in the next journal activity.
If you miss this activity- In your journal page you must write ABSENT and define the following terms from the lesson:
September 30th & October 1st: "Bathymetric Mapping & Notes"
Using the student-created model of the seafloor features from last activity, student groups switched shoe box models with another group. Then the group had to simulate old methods of bathymetric mapping by measuring the depths of the features with a chopstick at 1 cm intervals.
If you miss this activity- In your journal page you must take notes from the lesson presentation by clicking HERE

Week 3: September 2-5
Day 1- Journal & Tracking Activity- "Marine Biologist's Tools" starting on page 68 in the textbook students read about the instruments marine biologists use to track ocean animals. Then complete a tracking activity to paste into their journals.

**During all classes we will take short trips to the media center to print out research on marine biologists from around the globe.**
Day 2- Marine Biologist Poster Project- Students began researching a marine biologist from their native country or a country that reflects their heritage. For example if you were born in the US but are Jamaican you would research marine biologists from Jamaica. Make sense? We will be going to the media center, making the poster in class and materials will be provided.
Posters must include:
